Use An Abundance of Colour When Decorating
An easy choice at face value, choose a paint colour or colour scheme for Your Own home. This could turn even the strongest among us into quaking wimps. The fear of picking the wrong colour has many owners paralyzed and unable to make a decision. It is possible to hire a professoinal decorator or Colour Design Expert that may help you solve your colour selection difficulty. However, if you would rather take action on thier own you should use a simple technique that I recommend to my clients and decorating workshop students.
1. Make a trip to the local home improvement centre and head directly for that paint department. Pick whatever colour you are taking a fancy to. Don’t be concerned about where you’ll be using the colour for now. Just rejoice with the choices. This can help you reduce the intimidation of selecting a colour. This is the initial step in beating your trepidation.
2. Grab you favourite fashion mags and cut out pictures with colours that you find eye-catching. After all, when you are attracted to a colour in make-up or fashion, odds are you will like that colour in the home.
3. Find an inspirational piece in your house that you absolutely adore. Use the colours from that piece to guide you in your colour decisions.
4. Buy sample pots of paint colours that you’ve decided on and apply them to a tiny part of your wall (tape it to your wall). Watch how the colour changes right through your day, watch the way it responds to daylight and false light. In the event you definately love the colour, then buy it and start painting. If you don’t enjoy it then replicate this exercise.
Remember that choosing a paint colour or colour scheme for your house isn’t a life or death choice. Approach the choice with a sense of fun and adventure knowing that regardless if you choose right or wrong, at the least you made a decision. If you chose the colour you like Congratulations. If you chose a colour that you have decided you didn’t like Congratulations too! You’re just one step closer to finding the colour that defines your personality and one step further away from the fear of using colour.
Don’t be afraid to go with the colours that you want, it doesn’t matter what anyone else might think. If you prefer it, then that is all that counts. You won’t please every one, no matter what you choose to put on your walls. I could give you many of examples where I have gone in to a house and felt ill with what others have chosen, but they like it. That is all that matters these days.
Interior and exterior painting is difficult work and by doing it yourself you may or may not pull off the effects that you’ve been expecting.
